The Theatre of Romeo Castellucci and the Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio
The work of the Italian artist and his group, the “Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio” is examined thematically, both in terms of theory and practice: the method which Romeo Castellucci uses to create his spectacles and the connection between the organic elements and the necessities of the stage. It will investigate the way Castellucci reconsiders the role of the actor, assigning a passive energy to the person on stage and the presence of uncommon bodies, children and animals in his theatre.

Archival Research and Cultural Heritage: The Theatre Archive of Romeo Castellucci and the Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio
This presentation has as its particular object the two-year research project ‘Archivio’, concerning the archive of the Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio, one of the richest theatrical collections in Europe. Funded by the Special Account for Research of the University of Crete, this project has as its primary goal to make accessible to students, scholars and the general public across the world an archive which contains the long contemporary history of one of the most distinguished artistic groups internationally.
