The MA degree “Choreography” is a two-year, full-time art study program. It is based on artistic practice and its reflection, and it aims towards producing and presenting choreographic works. The synergy of these three fields leads to the students’ artistic profile being honed and their individual choreographic practice refined. In addition to the realization of artistic projects, the focus is also set on the ability to take part in aesthetic discourses and define one’s own artistic position.
Three fields are the focus of the program:
– body and movement research in which somatic practices and embodied theories of embodiment are combined and cooperative forms of artistic work processes are tested and reflected;
– methods of composition and reflection on creative processes;
– artistic, aesthetic and societal contextualization of choreographic practice.

Prerequisites for acceptance:
The following prerequisites for acceptance apply are a BA degree or equivalent degree from a university, technical college or art school in Germany or abroad. Proficiency in German and English to the degree that it is possible to understand courses and texts in both languages and to write complex texts in one of the two languages. The presentation of one’s own choreographic works in a public performance context.
Application materials:
Beside the corresponding university degrees and proofs, the application materials include an extensive letter of motivation, an artistic self-portrayal of the applicant with a statement about one’s artistic work and samples of his or her choreographic works.
