Modellierungen von Fremdheit beeinflussen die gesamte Wissenskultur des Tanzens im 19. Jahrhundert. Sie affizieren seine Dokumentations-, Archivierungs- wie Theoretisierungsweisen.
*Interaktion und Rhythmus* analysiert korporale, kinetische und inszenatorische Alteritäten in etwa 100 Tanztheorien aus Deutschland, Frankreich, England und Spanien und rund 100 Tanzlibretti aus Frankreich, Deutschland, England, Italien und Portugal.

A new conference on the cultural history of emotions is now being organized in Istanbul, Turkey. Developed jointly by historians at Sabancý University (Istanbul), Bilkent University (Ankara), University of Washington (Seattle) and the network for cultural history of emotions in pre-modernity (CHEP) at Umeå University, Sweden, the program will run over three days and include six invited keynote talks and a full calendar of talks by established scholars, post-graduates and advanced graduate students in the arts and humanities, in addition to providing opportunities to sample life in one of the world’s most fascinating cities.

Song and Dance are united in Flamenco, and have been combined in many art forms from
pop music, musical theatre, movies, right back to mediaeval carole circle dancing.
CULTURAL EXOTICISM
The exotic world of Spanish gypsies and Arab cultures are still made evident in today’s performances. How have specific cultural trends, styles and modes of performances been transformed into new dance forms? How is the exotic created through dance?
FUSION AND CONFUSION
New exciting performances are created by fusing flamenco with other dance styles.
These can be very original and absorbing but what is the place of traditional flamenco in these dances. Now that Flamenco has merged with other performance styles such as Jazz and Tango, papers may also consider whether this has produced fusion or confusion.
