Job Description

The Dance Programme is part of the dynamic new Performance Centre at Falmouth University and works closely with colleagues in Theatre, Music and Production. Expanding the legacy of dance & choreographic practices fostered at Dartington since the 1970s, the Dance Programme emphasizes the relationship between dance practices and their social, cultural and conceptual contexts.

We offer an intense technical and physical training in classical, contemporary and somatic techniques alongside theoretical and contextual studies. The courses we offer in Dance & Performance, Dance & Choreography, and Dance & Communities (from 2014) enable motivated, independent and versatile practitioners to initiate dance and choreographic work with and for others in diverse contexts and communities.

We are looking for applicants with excellent knowledge and experience of practical training and technical approaches to dance and choreography, a substantial teaching experience in Higher Education and/ or extensive professional dance and performance experience.

Our geographical location in Cornwall is already noted for its extraordinary creative climate and cultural opportunities. The post offers a unique opportunity to develop dance and choreographic practices in high-specification studios, with the regional independent dance sector and production networks, and in relation to landscapes, seascapes, rural and virtual communities as well as main frame touring and production venues.
